We are surrounded by words almost every moment of every day, whether we are conscious of it or not. What if there was a way to look deeper and filter those words into poetic gems and poignant truths? Poetry Is Everywhere is my signature workshop that was created during the pandemic in 2020. As someone who has been dabbling with these techniques for over half a decade, I wanted to introduce others to these sometimes overlooked genres of experimental writing. This course aims to posit to you a wide array of fresh perspectives in the realm of poetry and, more importantly, creative expression. :) Age: 18+ What you will learn: - Why found poetry? - How is it different from other forms of writing? - Delving into the four main types of found poems and their sub-types with numerous examples - Introduction to the world of algorithm-generated poetry & Oulipo - Working with prompts - Collaborative writing Materials needed: - Newspapers/magazines/books/eBooks - Black marker - Paints, markers, crayons (optional) - Photo editing app of your choice - An open mind & a discerning eye :) The total duration of this course is three hours, and it will be conducted live over the weekend. The course includes assignments and feedback to ensure that you put into practice whatever you've learned, without pushing them to the back burner or shelving them to gather digital dust. After completing this course, you will leave with an all-new set of tools in your writing toolbox to use as you please and however often you like.
